No Book Jackets Required, an evening of literature featuring Jessica Hagedorn and Nelson George, curated by James Hannaham

On Wednesday, June 23, 8 p.m. Ringshout, the Asian American Writers Workshop and Brooklyn's Montauk Club invite you to The Montauk Club, 25 8th Avenue, Brooklyn NY (2,3 train to Grand Army Plaza).

Attendees are welcome to the reading, cocktails afterward and a tour of this historic building. Admittance is free to club members and $5 for non-members; drink tickets can be purchased. National Black Book Festival

Forming RingShout: A Place for Black Literature.
African-Americans often struggle with feelings of isolation, and African-American writers often long for a place to talk to one another. This group will examine ways in which educators, students and writers can develop and use new paradigms -- like the recently formed organization RingShout: A Place for Black Literature -- to build community and assert the centrality of African-American literature to the American experience for people of all races.
